    On 14 - 16 April 2016, a delegation of St. Petersburg visited Mumbai (Republic of India) to participate in the conference "BRICS Friendship Cities Conclave 2016"

    The delegation was led by the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg, S.N. Movchan. The delegation included the representatives of the profile committees of St. Petersburg Administration (the Committee for Industrial Policy and Innovation, the Committee for Nature Use, Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety, the Housing Committee, the Committee for External Relations, the Committee for Urban Land Improvement), as well as St. Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise "Vodokanal of St. Petersburg".

    The delegation was led by the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg, S.N. Movchan. The delegation included the representatives of the profile committees of St. Petersburg Administration (the Committee for Industrial Policy and Innovation, the Committee for Nature Use, Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety, the Housing Committee, the Committee for External Relations, the Committee for Urban Land Improvement), as well as St. Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise "Vodokanal of St. Petersburg".

    As part of the panel sessions, the full range of sustainable development issues of BRICS cities was considered including administrative, economic, environmental, social, housing and communal as well as security spheres.

    The members of St. Petersburg delegation made six presentations, according to the topics of panel sessions.

    On the sidelines of the event there was a number of bilateral meetings and negotiations.

    The meeting of the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg S.N. Movchan with the Chief Minister of Maharashtra State (Mumbai is the capital of the State) Mr. D. Fadnavis dedicated to the issues of cooperation between St. Petersburg and Mumbai. During the meeting, the sides paid special attention to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of twin-city relations of St. Petersburg and Mumbai (to be held in 2017). In this regard, they agreed to organize Days of St. Petersburg in Mumbai and Days of Mumbai in St. Petersburg in 2017. A part of these activities can be the festivals of a retrospective films produced by "Lenfilm" studio organized in Mumbai and the ones produced by "Bollywood" film company organized in St. Petersburg. The Committee for External Relations, the Committee for Culture and "Lenfilm" in cooperation with the Consulate General of India in St. Petersburg and Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Indian Culture in Moscow are working on this project.

    During the meeting with the head of the Brazilian delegation, the Ambassador of Brazil to India, Mr. T. da Silva Nunes, they discussed the issues of cooperation of St. Petersburg with the cities and regions of Brazil in the sphere of organization of deliveries to Brazil of the following products: agricultural products, mining equipment, pharmaceutical products and medical devices, as well as cooperation in the sphere of education, shipbuilding, water treatment. The "Safe City" project implemented in St. Petersburg caused particular interest among Brazilian colleagues.

    The delivery scheme of agricultural and mining equipment, cooperation in the sphere of shipbuilding and wastewater treatment were also discussed during the negotiations with the head of the Brazilian delegation, Consul General of South Africa in Mumbai S. Pillay.

    There was also a number of bilateral meetings of the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg S.N. Movchan with the representatives of the Chinese delegation. In particular, with the head of the delegation, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Xie Yuan, the Chairman of the Central Committee of the CPC Qingdao Zhang Shaojun, the Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai municipal government Huang Rong.
