    On 2 February, in Smolny the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of India in the Russian Federation Pankaj Saran

    The meeting was also attended by the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg O.A. Markov and the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg E.D. Grigoriev. According to Pankaj Saran, St. Petersburg became the first Russian city where the Ambassador went on a visit after his appointment for the new position.

    During the meeting, Georgy Poltavchenko and Mr. P. Saran discussed the development of commercial and military-technical cooperation, cooperation in shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, medicine and other industries.

    The Indian side was interested in the experience of St. Petersburg in the urban and municipal services management, as well as St Petersburg water treatment and sanitation systems. In addition, the Indian filmmakers see St. Petersburg as a movie set for a world renowned Bollywood films.

    The Governor said that at the film studio "Lenfilm" is now implementing a project with working title "Kinogorod", in which the Indian colleagues could take part, if desired.

    Tourism sector was also discussed during the meeting. The Ambassador of India mentioned the possibility of opening the charter flights. Georgy Poltavchenko hospitably offered to arrange a presentation of St. Petersburg for the Indian travel companies.
