    On 11 - 14 September, St. Petersburg was visited by the training ship "Gloria" which belongs to the Colombian National Navy

    During the tour the young sailors met the ship crew and were told the history of sailing-ship. The tradition of hosting the foreign warships serves to maintain and promote St. Petersburg as Russia's sea capital.

    The foreign warship entered St. Petersburg showing the sign of friendship between our countries.

    On 13 September, there was a ceremonial event aboard "Gloria" dedicated to its arrival. At the beginning of the ceremony everybody was welcomed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Colombia in the Russian Federation, Alfonso Lopez Caballero, and the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg, the Administration Head of the Governor of St. Petersburg A.N. Govorunov.

    Among those presenting the Colombian side there were Commander of the Colombian National Navy Leonardo Santamaria Gaitan and the commander of the training ship "Gloria", Captain 1st rank, Carlos Mauricio Echandia Zuluaga. The Russian Navy was represented by Vladimir Ivanovich Korolev, Admiral, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy.

    An eventful program was organized for the crew in St. Petersburg. The officers and sailors of the training ship "Gloria" took part in the official wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument of Motherland at Piskaryovsky Memorial and visited the cruiser "Aurora" and the Peterhof State Museum Reserve.

    On 12 September, "Gloria" was visited by the pupils of the Children's Maritime Academy. During the tour the young sailors met the ship crew and were told the history of sailing-ship.

    The tradition of hosting the foreign warships serves to maintain and promote St. Petersburg as Russia's sea capital.

    In late September – early October, St. Petersburg is expecting a visit of the training ship "Brazil" of the Brazilian Navy.
