    On 12 - 14 August, the "world car rally" on the route Berlin-Moscow-Berlin drove through St. Petersburg

    The rally was attended by more than 250 citizens of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Israel, ages 6 to 80. Participants of the rally were traveling on 52 cars, five motorcycles and 11 motorhomes. The route lay through Kaliningrad, Pskov, Tver, St. Petersburg, Smolensk and Moscow.

    The rally was attended by more than 250 citizens of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Israel, ages 6 to 80. Participants of the rally were traveling on 52 cars, five motorcycles and 11 motorhomes.

    The route lay through Kaliningrad, Pskov, Tver, St. Petersburg, Smolensk and Moscow.

    As one of the organizers of the rally, Professor Rainer Rothfuss, said, "We want to contribute to the strengthening of mutual understanding and cooperation between the peoples of both countries and we see no other alternative for the development of Europe in the 21st century except keeping and strengthening of the peace. ... The population of Germany and Russia wants peace, dialog and cooperation. And our rally, I hope, will launch new joint projects in the sphere of Russian-German cooperation. These are civic initiatives in the promotion of peace and friendly relations between the citizens of our countries that will be able to become the best guarantee of stability".

    On August 12, the participants of the rally were met in St. Petersburg by the head of Krasnoselsky district, a member of the Government of St. Petersburg, Evgeny Nikolsky, as well as students of the school No. 352 with in-depth study of the German language.

    Evgeny Nikolsky expressed his admiration for the fact that the rally is organized on people's initiative, that the ordinary people of Germany in stand of peace and friendship, and this is extremely important nowadays.

    And maybe in the future, Krasnoselsky district will become a traditional meeting place for guests from Germany.

    On 13 August, the rally participants officially laid flowers to the Monument of Motherland at Piskaryovsky Memorial. Also, there were meetings with representatives of public and educational organizations of the city.

    In the evening on 13 August, a charity concert "Roads of friendship" was held in sociocultural center "Burevestnik", there were songs performed in the Russian and German languages and in various musical styles and trends (classical, jazz, folk, bard songs, rock and rap).

    The Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg provided organizational and informational support to the motor rally.
