    Today, on July 21, there was an agreement on cooperation signed between Nevsky district of St. Petersburg and the Greek city of Kavala

    During the visit, there was a meeting between the Head of Administration of Nevsky district Konstantin Serov and the Mayor of Kavala Mrs. Dimitra Tsanaka. During the conversation, the parties emphasized the need to enhance bilateral cooperation, including the level of inter-regional and municipal contacts.

    The signing took place during the visit of St. Petersburg delegation to Greece, which was organized with the assistance of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg.

    St. Petersburg delegation was led by the head of administration of Nevsky district of St. Petersburg Konstantin Serov. The delegation included representatives of the executive authorities of St. Petersburg, professional associations of small and medium entrepreneurs of Nevsky district, as well as representatives of JSC "Imperial Porcelain Factory".

    During the visit, there was a meeting between the Head of Administration of Nevsky district Konstantin Serov and the Mayor of Kavala Mrs. Dimitra Tsanaka. During the conversation, the parties emphasized the need to enhance bilateral cooperation, including the level of inter-regional and municipal contacts.

    Mrs. Tsanaka said that she admires the beauty of the Northern capital of Russia, and sees a great potential in expanding cooperation in such areas as tourism, cultural exchanges, youth exchanges and the implementation of economic projects.

    The Head of Administration of Nevsky District Konstantin Serov emphasized in return that the "intermutual" Year of Russia and Greece gives the parties an additional impetus for successful cooperation. Before that, there was an agreement signed on cooperation between the Administration of Vyborgsky district of St. Petersburg and the city of Alexandroupolis, which is also located in the north-east of the country and belongs to the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. These contacts and, in particular, the opening of the Information business center of St. Petersburg in Alexandroupolis show how meaningful and effective the relations at the district level can be. Konstantin Serov expressed his confidence that the new agreement will also greatly enrich our bilateral cooperation and will make a great contribution to the development of mutually beneficial contacts.
    At the end of the conversation the sides agreed to prepare a "road map" to implement the agreement by November of this year.

    St. Petersburg delegation also met with two Vice Governors of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, who oversee the city of Kavala and the development of tourism in the region. During the meeting, the Greek side reiterated the desire to contribute generously to the development of economic relations with St. Petersburg and the implementation of concrete mutually beneficial projects.

    In addition, the city of St. Petersburg was granted the status of a guest of honor at Cosmopolis International Festival. The delegation headed the solemn procession of the festival participants on the streets of the city. Among the festival guests are the representatives of 9 countries, including performance groups from Moscow.

    St. Petersburg was represented at the festival by Moroshka Russian Folk Theater that will perform during three days. A special pavilion with information materials and souvenirs dedicated to St. Petersburg is also set on the festival territory.

    On 22 July, the official delegation of St. Petersburg is planning to meet with the representatives of Kavala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
