    Seminar under the Cross-boarder Cooperation Programme "South-East Finland – Russia" for 2014-2020

    On July 10-12, Evgeny Grigoriev, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg took part in the seminar-tour under the Cross-border Cooperation Programme “South-East Finland – Russia” for 2014-2020 which was held in Imatra and Savonlinna (Finland) cities.

    On July 10-12, Evgeny Grigoriev, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg took part in the seminar-tour under the Cross-border Cooperation Programme “South-East Finland – Russia” for 2014-2020 which was held in Imatra and Savonlinna (Finland) cities.

    During the seminar, a report was presented under the Cross-border Cooperation Programme “South-East Finland – Russia”  for 2007-2013,  and results achieved by projects on the Finnish side of the Programme’s territory were presented.

    Besides, during the seminar preliminary information about priorities of 2014-2020 Programme was given, and its launch process and implementation schedule was discussed.

    During the visit to Finland, the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg also held negotiations with the Mayor of Savonlinna city J. Laine, with the leadership of the Regional South Savo Union P. Mäkinen and J. Vuorinen, with the director of the Regional South Karelia Union M. Veijalainen and with the representative of the iDepartment for International Cooperation of Imatra city Mrs. T. Laitimo.

    In Savonlinna city participants of the seminar visited Olavinlinna fortress where the annual opera festival is held.

    Under the Cross-border Cooperation Program “South-East Finland – Russia” for 2007-2013 Olavinlinna fortress became the site of the project “St. Petersburg – Savonlinna Ballet Days”.

    The project created opportunities of professional cooperation between Russia and Finland in the area of ballet arts and laid foundations of future cooperation. Young dancers from both countries trained together on master-classes which were held by world ballet starts and outstanding Russian educators.
