As part of the implementation of cooperation agreement between St. Petersburg and Riga (Latvia), the traditional Days of St. Petersburg were held in Riga on 4-5 June 2014.
The events were attended by the St. Petersburg delegation led by Alexander Vorobyev, Chairman of the Committee for Transport. The visit`s programme included meetings with Alexander Veshnyakov, Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Latvia and Eiženija Aldermane, Chairman of the Education, Culture and Sports Committee of the Riga City Council.
The business programme included round-tables dedicated to the protection and restoration of historic buildings and architectural monuments; organization of mass cultural events in the city centre as well as the energy efficiency issues in apartment houses.Meetings to exchange ideas on development of public transport were also arranged as part of the program.
The cultural programme included the following events: performance of the St. Petersburg State Academic Orchestra and soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre in the Dailes Theatre, a poetry event called “Magnificent St. Petersburg”, featuring Yury Tomashevsky, Honoured Artist of Russia and artists of St. Petersburg theatres; a jazz concert of the Andrei Kondakov Electric Project and saxophonist Denis Pashkevich from Riga as well as a photo exhibition “St. Petersburg through Angels` Eyes– the View from St.Isaac's” from the funds of the St. Isaac's State Monument-Museum.
