The meeting was led by Evgeny Grigoriev, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg.
At the meeting, Russia was represented by Alexander Tcherevko, Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the Netherlands; Alexander Vorobyev, Chairman of the Committee for Transport; Maxim Meyksin, Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Policy and Innovation; Alexander Parkhomenko, Chairman of the Committee for Youth Policy and Interaction with Public Organizations; Alexander German, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Development and Consumer Market; Alexander Voronko, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Culture, and Vladimir Katenev, President of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce. At the meeting, the Netherlands were represented by: Mr. Philip Rets, Head of the Mayor`s Administration of Rotterdam; Jennes de Mol, Consul-General of the Netherlands in St. Petersburg; Jan Simons, Director of the Trade Facilitation Centre; Melanie van Ofem, Director of the Cultural Council of Rotterdam; Mr. Hugo Bruer, the Deputy Consul-General of the Netherlands in St Petersburg and Gert Jan Lammens, Director of Department for the Support and Development of Sport, Rotterdam.
At the meeting the perspectives for development of cooperation in different spheres were discussed such as ICT, pharmaceutical and medical clusters, radio-electronics, research and technology. The issues brought up at the meeting also included cultural links, such as St. Petersburg theatre projects in Rotterdam; youth projects, including the participation of Dutch representatives in volunteers forums, cooperation in the sphere of transport, including eco-friendly transport and light rail as well as development of partnership between the St. Petersburg and Rotterdam Chambers of Commerce.
On October 17th, 2013 Memorandum of the Establishment of the Council for Cooperation between St. Petersburg and Rotterdam was signed in the Mayor`s Office of Rotterdam as part of the Cultural & Business Mission of St. Petersburg to the Netherlands. The Council has been established to develop direct contacts and mutually beneficial cooperation between Russian and Dutch organizations, to promote the positive image of both cities, to arrange constructive dialogue between the business communities of Rotterdam and St. Petersburg, and to promote joint business proposals and attract investments.
