    St. Petersburg hosted the III Meeting of the Norwegian-Russian Working Group on Interregional and Cross-border Cooperation on February 25th, 2014

    In the framework of the meeting representatives of Russian and Norwegian federal and local authorities well as representatives of business communities discussed issues of interregional and cross-border cooperation.

    In the framework of the meeting representatives of Russian and Norwegian federal and local authorities well as representatives of business communities discussed issues of interregional and cross-border cooperation.

    Russian delegation was headed by S. Ivanova, the State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Regional Development of the Russian Federation; Norwegian delegation was led by E. Solberg, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Kingdom of Norway.

    During the meeting the parties noted successful implementation of the Action Plan of Russian-Norwegian Cross-Border Cooperation for 2011-2015; discussed the updated Plan for 2014-2015.

    The following issues were discussed at the meeting:
    - visa liberalization and procedure of labor permit;
    - improvement of state border and development of crossing points system;
    - interaction of Norwegian and Russian customs services;
    - improvement of road communication between cross-border regions;
    - development of economic, cultural and humanitarian, scientific, educational and touristic cooperation.

    The meeting resulted in signing of the Minutes.

    The next meeting of the Working group is proposed to be held in the first quarter of 2015 in Norway.
