    On 29th March the St. Petersburg Vice-Governor O.A. Markov met in Smolny Palace with representatives of the Turkish Center for Middle Eastern Strategic Studies

    This official visit was held within the delegation's participation in the Round Table "Russia-Turkey relations - the modern Status and Prospects", organized by the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies, on 28th March 2013 in St. Petersburg.

    In the course of talks Vice Governor O.A. Markov informed the Turkish guests about the St. Petersburg priority areas of socio-economic development, raised the issues of bilateral cooperation with Republic of Turkey, noting the active presence of Turkish companies in the city construction market (including the construction of the Central Section of the Western High-Speed Diameter).

    Participants expressed interest in actively developing cooperation between St. Petersburg and Turkey and exchanged views about its prospects, including: tourism development (including visa-free regime and the availability of direct airline services), energy efficiency, innovative technologies in agriculture, regional cooperation and development of St. Petersburg relations with Istanbul and Ankara.
