October 26, 2012, Grand Opening of the Photo Exhibition “Paradise Found – Aland Islands” at the Museum of Political History of Russia
Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg, V. Kichedzhi, and the Minister of Administrative Affairs of the Government of Aland Islands, Ms. Gun-Marie Lindholm, gave their welcoming speeches at the opening ceremony.
The exhibition is supported by the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg and is timed to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the autonomous status of the Aland Islands in the Finnish Republic. The exhibition will run from October 29 to November 16, 2012.

Aland Islands represent an archipelago located in the middle of the Baltic Sea. This is a demilitarized Swedish-speaking region with the right of self-government secured by international guarantees. In spite of its small population of 28,000 people, the region has its own flag and own postal stamps, while the local parliament and government have extensive legislative and executive powers.
