    Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance held the international conference “Russia and Canada in Northern Dimension

    The conference brought together leading experts in the Canadian economy and politics from St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Canada.

    On 26 October Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance held the international conference “Russia and Canada in Northern Dimension: Economy, Policy, Culture” under the auspices of the Center for North American Studies and the Russian Association for Canadian Studies.

    The conference brought together leading experts in the Canadian economy and politics from St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Canada.

    The Conference involved discussions of a wide range of issues, including economic development problems of the northern regions, international cooperation in the North and in the Arctic Regions, Canada's experience in the development of its northern regions.

    The Conference was traditionally held with the support and participation of the Canadian Embassy in the Russian Federation. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Canada to Russia, John Sloan, gave a welcoming speech at the opening of the Conference.

    Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, Alexander Prokhorenko, sent his greetings to the organizers and participants of the event.
