    Istvan Horvath Took up his Duty as the Consul General of Hungary in St. Petersburg

    October 3, 2012, the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, Alexander Prokhorenko, met at Smolny with the Consul General of Hungary in St. Petersburg, Istvan Horvath.

    October 3, 2012, the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, Alexander Prokhorenko, met at Smolny with the Consul General of Hungary in St. Petersburg, Istvan Horvath.

    The meeting was dedicated to the development of cooperation between St. Petersburg and Hungary. Mr. Horvath mentioned strengthening of the economic cooperation as a priority of his work as the General Consul of Hungary, particularly referring to the supplies of Hungarian manufactured goods and agricultural products, and the promotion of tourism. Special attention may also be given to international cross-cultural programs to be implemented in 2014-2015.

    Alexander Prokhorenko drew Mr. Horvath’s attention to major congress and exhibition events scheduled for the late 2012 and 2013 in the city. If interested, Hungarian partners may be invited to participate in the St. Petersburg Partneriat program titled "St. Petersburg - Regions of Russia and Abroad", specialized tourist exhibitions, forums and major cultural festivals. Mr. Prokhorenko stressed that St. Petersburg was seeking participation of Hungarian companies in the development of the automotive industry, manufacture of automotive components and the pharmaceutical cluster.

    The parties have agreed to continue the discussion of specific forms of cooperation at a working level.
