    St. Petersburg Governor held a meeting with the Ambassador of Albania to Russia

    September 27, 2012, St. Petersburg Governor, Georgy Poltavchenko met at Smolny with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Russia, Sokol Gioka.
    Georgy Poltavchenko congratulated Sokol Gioka and residents of Albania on the 100th anniversary of the independence of their Republic, celebrated this year, and noted that the people of St. Petersburg were eagerly waiting for the events under the "Days of the Spiritual Culture of Albania in Russia." The St. Petersburg events program opens October 4, 2012, with a concert of the National Chamber Orchestra of Radio and Television of Albania to be held in the State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg. An exhibition titled “Albania in Photos” opens in V. Mayakovsky Public Library on October 20, 2012.
    The meeting covered the development of bilateral cooperation. The Governor proposed strengthening of the economic cooperation between St. Petersburg and Albania. The promising areas include: supplies of Albanian food and textile products and tourism. Georgy Poltavchenko emphasized to Mr. Gioka that the favorable economic situation in the city is largely dependent on the development of foreign trade relations. Therefore, it was suggested to hold a meeting for business representatives of St. Petersburg and Albania.
    Georgy Poltavchenko highly appreciated the decision of the Albanian party to cancel the visa regime for the citizens of Russia in the period from May to September, but at the same time, he pointed out that this information has not been properly promulgated.
