On July 11, A.V.Prokhorenko, Member of the St.Petersburg Government, Chairman of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations, had at Smolny a conversation with a delegation of the Swiss Confederation, headed by Doris Leuthard, Minister of energy, transport, telecommunications and environmental .
The theme of the meeting were the issues of energy efficiency. St.Petersburg needs to optimize energy consumption, which allows to pipe the resources into other areas of the city’s economy.
The Swiss delegation included leading experts on heating systems, both centralized and autonomous. From St.Petersburg, the meeting was attended by P.N.Dyakov and A.A.Sizov, Vice Chairmen of the Committee for Energy and Engineering.
The parties agreed to undertake special cooperative measures. Experts and young scientists from St.Petersburg will study the experience of Swiss colleagues to introduce the latest developments, as well as investing in the energy sector of the city.
A.V.Prokhorenko: “For St.Petersburg, the expertise of Swiss colleagues is very important, but it is advisable to build a systematic, long-term, in the full sense of the word - partnership in working”.
D.Leuthard expressed her hope that the first Swiss projects would be implemented exactly in St.Petersburg, and noted that the relevance of this interaction was particularly high on the eve of Russia’s joining the WTO and against the benefits of the socio-economic development of our country in comparison with the European Union in the form of low unemployment and economic modernization.
