    St.Petersburg Delegation Visited Helsinki

    On January 31, 2012, St.Petersburg delegation headed by G.S.Poltavchenko, Governor of St.Petersburg, visited Helsinki.

    On January 31, 2012, St.Petersburg delegation headed by G.S.Poltavchenko, Governor of St.Petersburg, visited Helsinki.

    The delegation consisted of SA Kozyrev, Vice-Governor of St.Petersburg, A.V.Prokhorenko, Member of St.Petersburg Government, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations, V.V.Petrov, Chairman of the Committee on Energy and Engineering, VV.Shiyan, Chairman of the Housing Committee, O.V.Borozna, Director of St.Petersburg State Unitary Road-keeping Enterprise “Center”.

    The main purpose of the visit was the acquaintance with the work of municipal services in Helsinki during the winter time. Municipal Administration of Helsinki made a presentation for St.Petersburg delegation, based on Stara Kamppi, on the organization of snow removal from the city; the samples of snow-removal machinery and technologies of processing of the pavement were shown. The delegation also visited one of the snow-melting spots in the city of Helsinki.

    During the visit, a meeting took place with J. Katainen, Finnish Prime Minister, and A.Stubb, Minister of Finland for European Affairs and Foreign Trade. The sides discussed issues of cooperation between St.Petersburg and Finland, strengthening the bilateral relations in economy, culture, tourism, environmental protection.

    G.S.Poltavchenko also met with J. Pajunen, Mayor of Helsinki, and discussed the prospects for further cooperation between St.Petersburg and Helsinki. During the one-day stay in Helsinki, St.Petersburg Governor also held talks with the members of the Finnish advisors to the Government of St.Petersburg, and discussed with them the issues of cooperation of small- and medium-scale enterprises.
