On September 11 through 15, 2011, a delegation of City Council of Gdansk paid a visit to St.Petersburg, headed by B.Oleszek, Chairman. During the visit, the delegation of Gdansk met with V.A.Tulpanov, Chairman of St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly, and G.D.Ozerov, Deputy Chairman of St.Petersburg Legislative Assembly. Also met with I.O.Lonskiy, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations, during which the prospects for cooperation between St.Petersburg and the partner city of Gdansk were discussed, concerning the areas of economy, culture, science, and education.

St.Petersburg and Gdansk have been joined by the friendly ties for 50 years. A significant event of the past year were the Days of St.Petersburg in Gdansk. In September 2011, the creative team of St.Petersburg took part in the Festival of Partner Cities in Gdansk. The exchange of the delegations of business circles is made on a regular basis. Thus, in September 2011, the delegation of Gdansk Shipyard visited St.Petersburg to participate in the International Exhibition “Neva 2011”.
