    XI Session of the General Conference of the Union of Baltic Cities

    On October 4 through 7, 2011, XI Session of the General Conference of the Union of Baltic Cities (UBC), devoted to the 20th anniversary of the organization, was held in Liepaja (Latvia), attended by the representatives of St.Petersburg.

    On October 4 through 7, 2011, XI Session of the General Conference of the Union of Baltic Cities (UBC), devoted to the 20th anniversary of the organization, was held in Liepaja (Latvia), attended by the representatives of St.Petersburg.

    Union of Baltic Cities is an international non-governmental organization that was founded at the conference of representatives of the cities of the Baltic Sea rim in Gdańsk (Poland), on September 20, 1991. St.Petersburg became its member in 1992.

    Currently, the organization includes over hundred cities in the Baltic Sea region.

    During the meeting there were discussions on various issues of cooperation in the Baltic Sea region, cooperation with international organizations, partner cities, the discussion of the action plan of the Committees of the UBC, as well as election of new Executive Committee of the UBC for the next biennium.

    The active support and promotion of cooperation between the youth movements and organizations in the countries – UBC participants were unanimously agreed as the main objectives of the UBC activity in the near future.
