    VII International Scientific Conference “The Religious Situation in the North-west of Russia and the Baltic States: Tradition and Contemporaneity” Was Held in St.Petersburg

    On April 25, 2011, VII International Scientific Conference “The religious situation in the north-west Russia and the Baltic States: Tradition and Contemporaneity” was held at the Russian State Paedagogical University named after Herzen, attended by the representatives of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations.

    On April 25, 2011, VII International Scientific Conference “The religious situation in the north-west Russia and the Baltic States: Tradition and Contemporaneity” was held at the Russian State Paedagogical University named after Herzen, attended by the representatives of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations.

    At the conference, discussed were the current trends of religious life in our region, prospects of development of scientific and ecclesiastical dialogue, issues of expansion of inter-church cooperation.

    In their reports, the speakers have highlighted the fact that the North-west of Russia is notable for the lack of tension in relations between the confessions and the state, and interconfessional dialogue itself is more constructive and positive.

    The conference was attended by political scientists, sociologists, religious scholars, theologians, and representatives of religious organizations in St.Petersburg and the North-west region of Russia.
    The outcome of the conference will be published as a collections of articles and reports.
