The IV Youth Festival “Global Culture – for the Cultural Capital”, which has been held in our city within the framework of the St.Petersburg Government Program “Tolerance” since 2007, approaches its end. This year’s festival has brought together over 90,000 participants.
Every year, its contests bring something new. The name of one of this year contests, “Time of the Action!” became the slogan of the festival in 2010. Also, to mark the anniversary of the Great Victory, a special theme was giving the respect and honour to the joint feat of the people of different nationalities – the wartime heroes.
From September to November, the Theatre “Litsedei [Play-Actors]” hosted the competitive rounds - qualifying, regional, and interregional, and the final was arranged on 27 November, when three winners were determined among the 18 teams of senior pupils from all districts of the city: the team of the Gymnasium № 406 (Pushkinskiy District), School № 553 (Frunzenskiy District) and the Lyceum № 373 (Moscovskiy District).
In December 2010, the Exchange of Social Projects was run – this innovation would enable the young people to achieve success in accomplishing their initiatives. All the projects submitted to the Exchange, were developed by the participants of the festival for the contest “Time of the Action!”. Among them, there are: the creation of musical educational aid for immigrants with the rules of the Russian language, the creation of park featuring the ethnic fairy-tales in the micro-district Rybatskoe, a project of posting in the elevators the information about the culture and history of the city, the organization of the festival of family theatres, organizing the gala concerts with the participation of representatives of modern culture of the countries of former Soviet republics and others. All the projects were supported by municipal and district administration.
By tradition, the IV Youth Festival “Global Culture – for the Cultural Capital” was concluded with the solemn ceremony of awarding the winners. The main surprise for the guests and participants of the ceremony was a “Special Youth Award”. It was established by the participants of the Festival. This award is from the young residents of St.Petersburg for their contemporary, who, in their opinion, embodies moral ideals and traditions of genuine St.Petersburg culture. The award was presented to the People’s Artist of Russian Federation, Mikhail Boyarskiy, who congratulated from the stage all the winners and participants of the Festival.
Awarding of the Festival participants and all the nominees was accompanied by a festive concert. Unique dances of the show-ballet “Flores”, the performance of electroviolin virtuosos «Exit Live», magic show by a magician and illusionist Ilya Larionov, and sparkling parodies of a pop duo Vladlen Lerner and Denis Vorobyev could not left the audience indifferent.
