    New Consul General of Estonia in St.Petersburg Appointed

    On December 9, 2010 A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of the Committee for External Relation, met in Smolny with Mrs Tiina Maiberg, Consul General of Republic of Estonia in St.Petersburg.

    On December 9, 2010 A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of the Committee for External Relation, met in Smolny with Mrs Tiina Maiberg, Consul General of Republic of Estonia in St.Petersburg.

    A.V. Prokhorenko congratulated Mrs T. Maiberg on taking her office, and mentioned the traditionally intense level of cooperation between St.Petersburg and Estonia, both in economic and humanitarian spheres.

    It was stressed that the Government of St.Petersburg is set to a constructive dialogue to address the existing problems on the basis of mutual respect and considering the interests of both parties.

    In addition, discussed were the issues of “St.Petersburg Encounters in Tallinn” in 2011, the year when the capital of Estonia is bearing the title of European Capital of Culture, to the preparation of which the Government of St.Petersburg pays particular attention, as well as the completion of restoration works in the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church of St.John at 54 Dekabristov St.

    At the end of the conversation A.V. Prokhorenko wished Mrs T. Maiberg every success at the position of Consul General of the Republic of Estonia, and expressed the hope that her activities will contribute to the further development of the Petersburg–Estonian relations.
