    The Governor of St.Petersburg Visited Milan

    On December 2, 2010, V.I. Matvienko, St.Petersburg Governor, visited Milan, the Italian partner city of St.Petersburg. During this visit, she met with L. Moratti, Mayor of Milan.

    On December 2, 2010, V.I. Matvienko, St.Petersburg Governor, visited Milan, the Italian partner city of St.Petersburg. During this visit, she met with L. Moratti, Mayor of Milan.

    The leaders of the cities noted the high level of cooperation between St.Petersburg and Milan in various areas, and discussed the participation of St.Petersburg and Milan in the program of the Year of culture and language Russia–Italy-2011. Elaboration of the program “Days of St.Petersburg in Milan” was agreed, during which the stage of Milanese theatre Piccolo would harbour the St.Petersburg Theatre Seasons in autumn of 2011. For its part, the Municipality of Milan will present their proposals for organizing a reciprocal program in St.Petersburg.

    After the meeting, Governor of St.Petersburg and Mayor of Milan signed a memorandum of intent on the development of long-term cooperation in the area of organization and management of urban transport system. The partner from the Milan side was a city-wide company “ATM” dealing in the arrangement of passenger transportation.
