    IV All-Country Conference of Heads of Organizations of Russian Compatriots in Norway

    St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations took part in IV All-Country Conference of Heads of Organizations of Russian Compatriots in Norway, which was held in Oslo on November 27, 2010.
    At the opening ceremony of the conference? The speeches were made by:
    - M.G. Zubov, Minister Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Norway;
    - T.V. Dale, Chairman of the Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots in Norway.
    During the session, discussed were the issues of joining the new organizations of compatriots to the Coordinating Council; the reports of heads of sections of the work undertaken over the past year were heard,and the projects for 2011–2012 were discussed.
    V.V. Sakharova, Head of Office for the Coordination of Government Programs on International Relations, Relations with Compatriots Abroad and Interregional Cooperation at St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations, informed the participants of the conference, in her speech of November 27, on the implementation of the Program of St.Petersburg Government to implement the state policy of Russian Federation concerning the compatriots abroad, highlighted possible areas of cooperation between St.Petersburg and the compatriots’ organizations in Norway, and announced the major St.Petersburg events involving the Russian compatriots in 2011.
    The conference resulted in an agreement to further expand cooperation between St.Petersburg with the compatriots’ organizations in Norway, in particular, to co-host the Russian language courses for the professional in this area among the compatriots living in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The possibility of strengthening cooperation was discussed, by facilitating the opening of the Russian Language and Culture Center in Kirkenes.
    It was also agreed to place materials on St.Petersburg and its endeavor to implement the state policy of Russia concerning the compatriots abroad in the pages of cultural and educational magazine “Landsmann – The Compatriot”.
    Representatives of the organizations of compatriots living in Norway will be invited to St.Petersburg to participate in the events organized by St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations within the framework of implementing the state policy of Russian Federation concerning the compatriots abroad, particularly, in IV St.Petersburg Forum for young compatriots living abroad and the employees of foreign Russian-speaking mass-media on 22–28 May 2011. In the year to come, organizing the documentary photo-exhibitions on the Siege of Leningrad is possible in Norway, as well as the conveyance of educational materials on Russian language, history and culture of Russia and St.Petersburg to the compatriots’ organizations and schools with Russian language teaching.
