On October 7 and 8, 2010, the World thematic conference of compatriots was held in Moscow, under the title “On Contribution of the Compatriots in the Modernization of Russia. Opportunities for the Development of Partnerships”.
On October 7 and 8, 2010, the World thematic conference of compatriots was held in Moscow, under the title “On Contribution of the Compatriots in the Modernization of Russia. Opportunities for the Development of Partnerships”.
The conference program included: opening ceremony, plenary session, working in sections: “On the Forms of the Contribution of Compatriots in the Modernization of Russia” (section “Politicians, Businesspeople, Heads of Organizations of Compatriots”, “Scientists”, “Health”, “Culture, book publishing”), award ceremony for compatriots, a regional conference of compatriots living in the trans-Caucasus area.
The conference brought together the leaders and representatives of Foreign Affairs Ministry of Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo, governmental ministries, corporations and agencies, governmental bodies of the subjects of Russian Federation, and compatriots from all over the world. Conference was opened by S.M. Mironov, Chairman of the Federation Council of Federal Assembly of Russian Federation.
St.Petersburg was represented by the Committee for External Relations in person of V.V. Sakharova, Head of the Office for Coordination of Governmental Programs on Inter-Ethnic Relations, Relations with Compatriots Abroad and Interregional Cooperation, and V.N. Balskiy, Head of the Department for Relations with Compatriots abroad.
During the discussions, the conference participants achieved an agreement on the development of the St.Petersburg with compatriots living abroad; in particular, the compatriot businesspeople were invited to a traditional annual partneriat “Saint Petersburg – Regions of Russia and abroad” to be held in our city in March 2010.
