    Delegation of St.Petersburg Media Visited Vologda Region

    On August 25 through 28, 2010, a press tour of St.Petersburg media took place in the Vologda Region.

    The delegation of St.Petersburg media visited Vologda Region. Press tour was sponsored by the Government of the Vologda Region, Cherepovets City Hall, and the Committee for External Relations of St.Petersburg, on the eve of Days of Vologda Region to be held in St.Petersburg on September 16 through 18, 2010. The press tour involved journalists from the newspapers “Sankt-Petersburgskie Vedomosti (Petersburg)”, “Novosti Peterburga (Petersurg News)”, the magazine “Ekspert Severo-Zapada (Expert of North-West)”, Business News Agency, ZAO “Interfax North-West” and other editions.

    For the journalists, two separate programs were prepared, representing the economic and tourist potential of Vologda.

    Within the framework of the economic program, the journalists visited the joint-stock company “Severstal”, industrial park “Sheksna”, Agency for Urban Development, visited the JSC “Vologda Optical and Mechanical Plant”and JSC “Vologda Textile”, and met with Oleg Kuvshinnikov, Mayor of Cherepovets.

    Within the framework of the tourism program, the press-tour participants studied the potential of tourism in the Office for Tourism at the Department of International, Inter-regional Relations and Tourism of the region, visited the JSC “Vologda Lace”, visited the sights in Town Totma, the museum of wooden architecture in Semenkovo, as well as Cyrilo-Belozerskiy Museum-Preserve and Museum of Frescoes by Dionysius in Ferapontovo.

    The government of the region prepared for the journalists a presentation on the economy of Vologda Region, which was run by Yu. Senko, Head of the External Economic Affairs Office.
