    Meeting of A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations, and the Participants of the Program “Creative Internships in Russia”

    On August 27, 2010, A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations, met at Smolny with the participants of the program “Creative Internships in Russia”.

    On August 27, 2010, A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations, met at Smolny with the participants of the program “Creative Internships in Russia”.

    The program is conducted by the International Dmitriy Likhachev Foundation, Presidential Center named after B.N. Yeltsin, with the support of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations. It is intended for foreign experts dealing in Russian culture, and aims to expand international cultural exchanges.

    Participants of the program, selected on a competition basis, are enabled to get a two-week internship in St.Petersburg. The internship is financed by the Russian side. Afterwards, the participants of the program from the U.S. and Europe implement cultural projects in their countries to attract the attention of foreign audiences to the culture and history of Russia.

    Partners of the project in the USA are a program of the Library of Congress “Open World”, international organization to promote art and culture “CEC ArtsLink, Inc.”, American Foundation “Trust for Mutual Understanding”, Kennan Institute. The group includes the curators of museums in Los Angeles, New York, involved in the preparation of exhibition projects, specialists and university professors, theater director. Among the participants, there is Mara Sheldon (Program “Open World” of the Library of Congress), who is a member of the working group on culture and education programs of bilateral Russian-American presidential commission.

    During the meeting, the members of the delegation presented their projects. A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations, told about the history, culture, and nowaday development of St.Petersburg, and responded to the questions from participants.
