    International Forum “Greco-Russian Tourism and Real Estate: Challenges and Opportunities for St.Petersburg”

    On February 25, 2010, an international forum “Greco-Russian Tourism and Real Estate: Challenges and Opportunities for St.Petersburg” was run in Athens.

    On February 25, 2010, an international forum “Greco-Russian Tourism and Real Estate: Challenges and Opportunities for St.Petersburg” was run in Athens.

    Organizers: Greco-Russian Chamber of Commerce.

    On behalf of St.Petersburg, the forum was attended by the representatives of the Office of Tourism at the Committee on Investments and Strategic Projects, representatives of the North-West Branch of Russia’s Council for Tourism Industry, representatives of tourist business. From the Greek side, the forum brought together the representatives of the Ministry for Culture and Tourism of Greece, the Hellenic Organization of Tourism, Greco-Russian Chamber of Commerce, heads of tourist companies. The forum was also attended by V.I. Chkhikvishvili, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia in Greece.

    Angelika Gerekou, Deputy Minister for Culture and Tourism of Greece, mentioned in her speech the necessity to develop new kinds of tourism, such as dedicated, congress, religious, etc. The Minister also informed that in September 2010, Greece is going to celebrate an important historical event - the 2500th anniversary of the Battle of Marathon (September 12, 490 BC).

    The participants exchanged their opinions on further cooperation in promoting tourism between St Petersburg and Greece, and emphasized that a facilitation is needed of getting the visa entry for both countries.
