On November 26 through 29, 2009, an educational program «Pushkins Petersburg» was carried out in St.Petersburg, for teachers and representatives of the compatriots living in Finland. This project was organized in accordance with the «Program on Implementing the State Policy pf Russia Concerning the Compatriots abroad for 2008–2010» adopted by St.Petersburg Government in 2008.

The program was attended by 37 people from different cities of Finland, among them: Russian-speaking employees of educational institutions (kindergartens, schools), university lectors, and representatives of NGOs, including youth organizations. To our compatriots who convey the knowledge of Russian language and literature to the younger generation outside of Russia, it was particularly important and useful to plunge into the air of Pushkin?s epoch, so that afterwards, to fire up the interest of their pupils and students in studying the works by the great poet, and the Russian language and culture.

The content of the program «Pushkin?s Petersburg» included the excursions around the museum-apartment of Alexander Pushkin in 12 Moika Emb., the monographic literary exhibition «Pushkin. Life and Work», Museum of Derzhavin and Russian Literature of His Time, a literary exhibition «The Holders of Russian Lyre: from Derzhavin to Pushkin», the Memorial Museum-Lyceum and the Museum at Summer House of A.S. Pushkin, Apartment- Museum of N.A. Nekrasov. A bus tour «Pushkin in St.Petersburg» and a walking tour «The Last Road of Pushkin» helped them to watch Petersburg through the eyes of the poet. Besides, a general city-sightseeing tour and an excursion to the State Russian Museum were organized for the participants.
