On Saturday, August 29, the novelist held an open lecture at the Institute of Russian Literature at Russia Academy of Sciences (Pushkin House), while on Sunday, August 30 he gave an autograph session in the shop «Bookwoed» (10 Ligovskiy Ave.).
During the visit, the writer also met with A.Yu. Manilova, Vice-Governor of St.Petersburg.
The visit was organized by publishing house «Amfora» with the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Russia and the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in St.Petersburg.
Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk was born in Istanbul in 1952. His books are translated into over 50 languages. He won several literary awards, including the Nobel Prize for Literature of 2006 and the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade.
In 2006, the magazine «Time» listed the writer among hundred most influential people in the world in the category «Heroes & Pioneers».
Since 2006, he teaches the theory of literature at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Columbia University (New York, USA).
