On July 1 through 2, 2009, the third session of Russian-Polish Council for Cooperation of the St.Petersburg Region with the regions of Republic of Poland. Co-Chairmen of the Council are V.V. Tikhonov, Vice-Governor of St.Petersburg, from the Russian side, and Piotr Stakhanchik, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration of the Republic of Poland, from the Polish side.

Tikhonov, Vice-Governor of St.Petersburg, from the Russian side, and Piotr Stakhanchik, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration of the Republic of Poland, from the Polish side.
At the session, a presentation of twin city Gdansk was made, as well as of the special economic zones of St.Petersburg and of the agro-industrial complex of Leningrad Region.
Within the framework of the session, three commissions were working concerning the promising areas of cooperation.
At the Commission for Economic Development and Industrial Policy, the sides discussed the issues of cooperation between chambers of commerce and industry, special economic zones, and technoparks.
The participants of the Commission on Transport-Transit Policy considered the operation of shipping lines, as well as launching the passenger ferry service to connect the ports of St.Petersburg and the Republic of Poland.
During the work of the Commission on Education and Culture, it was agreed to run the Days of Krakow in St.Petersburg in September 2009, and considered the possibility of organizing a youth exchange in the program «Gaude Polonia» and arranging the theatrical and concert performances.
Agreements were concluded on sharing the information and experience in different areas of activity.
The next session of the Russian-Polish Council is to be held in Poland in 2010.
