    P. Vаyrynen, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development of Finland, Visited St.Petersburg

    P. Väyrynen, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development of Finland, was in St.Petersburg on a working visit on May 20 through 21, 2009.

    P. Väyrynen, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development of Finland, was in St.Petersburg on a working visit on May 20 through 21, 2009.

    During the visit, on May 21, the Minister met with the V.I. Matvienko, Governor of St.Petersburg, to discuss the prospects for cooperation of St.Petersburg and Finland.

    The same day Mr. Väyrynen and S.A. Fiveyskiy, Acting Chairman of the Committee for Economic Development, Industrial Policy, and Trade, opened in Smolny the seminar «New Opportunities for Finnish Business in St.Petersburg», which was attended by over 70 representatives of Finnish business community. The workshop continued in St.Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where it joined Russian businessmen.

    Then the Minister visited:

    • JSC «Admiralteyskie Shipyard», where he was made acquainted with the history of the factory, visited the construction site of tanker «Mikhail Ulyanov», and met with V.L. Aleksandrov, General Director,
    • and Finnish-Russian Innovation Center «FinNod».

    The Minister also met with F.V. Karmazinov, General Manager of SUE «Vodokanal St. Petersburg».
