On June 29 through July 1, 2010, at the invitation of the Ministry of Economy and Technology of Bavaria (Germany), the delegation of experts from St.Petersburg took part in the International Congress of Innovative Medicine “MedTech Pharma 2010” in Nuremberg (Bavaria).
On June 29 through July 1, 2010, at the invitation of the Ministry of Economy and Technology of Bavaria (Germany), the delegation of experts from St.Petersburg took part in the International Congress of Innovative Medicine “MedTech Pharma 2010” in Nuremberg (Bavaria).
During the visit, St.Petersburg delegation met with A.Yu. Grozov, Consul General of Russia in Munich who informed about the great interest of the Bavarian side in promoting the cooperation with St.Petersburg in the area of medical and pharmaceutical technologies, and confirmed the readiness of RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support this form of cooperation.
The delegation also held the negotiations with the officials of Ministry of Economics and Technology of Bavaria, responsible for cooperation with Russia.
In the course of the congress in Nuremberg, the leadership of Bavarian medical cluster organized a round table on cooperation with St.Petersburg, at which the project was presented to create of the St.Petersburg pharmaceutical cluster, and the prospects discussed concerning the cooperation with certain enterprises in St.Petersburg.
Within the confines of the visit, the delegation visited the state multidisciplinary clinic in Nuremberg, to study the organization of the health care system in the region and the latest developments in the field of diagnostic equipment.
On July 1, a seminar was organized at CCI of Nuremberg and Central Franconia for the representatives of German business, on cooperation of the region of Nuremberg and St Petersburg related to medical devices and pharmaceutical industry. On behalf of St.Petersburg, presentations were made by A.Yu. Egorova, Head of the industrial investment at the Committee for Economic Development, Industrial Policy and Trade, S.L. Litvinova, Director of State Unitary Enterprise “Medical equipment”, and A. Elinson, Deputy Director for Development of ZAO “Elektron”.

Congress “MedTech Pharma 2010” is held by the medical cluster in Bavaria, and it shows the main achievements of the so-called “Medical Valley”, located in the region of Nuremberg-Erlangen. Medical technology is now the main focus of the regional economy. Today, it is the location of both the world’s leading centers for the production of medical equipment and systems – for example, Siemens Medical Solution – and small- and medium-scale innovative companies: Biotronik, Corscience, HumanOptics, Pausch technologies, Pfirmmer-Nutricia, Wave Light etc. In the region, the leading medical universities and research centers in Germany are found: University of Friedrich-Alexander, Center for Innovation in Medical Technology and Pharmacology (IZMP), etc.
