    Arnaud Akodjenou, Inspector General for UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Visited St.Petersburg

    On June 28, 2010, L.P. Bogdanov, Chairman of the Committee on Law, Order, and Safety, met in Smolny with Arnaud Akodjenou, Inspector General for UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

    On June 28, 2010, L.P. Bogdanov, Chairman of the Committee on Law, Order, and Safety, met in Smolny with Arnaud Akodjenou, Inspector General for UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

    The meeting was held within the framework of a scheduled inspection of UNHCR’s activities in the regions of Russian Federation.

    During the meeting, the major issues of the implementation of state migration policy were discussed, as well as cooperation of St.Petersburg Government and UNHCR, in partnership with St.Petersburg branch of the Russian Red Cross and the Office of the Federal Migration Service over St.Petersburg and Leningrad Region.

    Arnaud Akodjenou highly commended the complex system work for refugees and immigrants, carried out by the executive authorities of St.Petersburg, and pledged the continued support of UNHCR for the activities of St.Petersburg administration and institutions.
