    UNESCO Delegation Visited St.Petersburg

    On May 12 through 15, 2010 in St. Petersburg, a delegation from UNESCO visited St.Petersburg.The delegation included permanent representatives of the countries – member of the Organization, members of the World Heritage Committee, and members of the Executive Board of UNESCO. The delegation was headed by E.V. Mitrofanova, Chairman of the Executive Council, Permanent Representative of Russia at UNESCO.

    On May 12 through 15, 2010 in St. Petersburg, a delegation from UNESCO visited St.Petersburg.

    The delegation included permanent representatives of the countries – member of the Organization, members of the World Heritage Committee, and members of the Executive Board of UNESCO. The delegation was headed by E.V. Mitrofanova, Chairman of the Executive Council, Permanent Representative of Russia at UNESCO.

    The purpose of the visit was participation in the X International Likhachev Readings.
    On May 13, V.A. Dementieva, Chairman of the Committee for State Control, Usage, and Protection of Monuments of History and Culture, met at the Committee with the members of the delegation, to discuss the condition of the World Heritage object "Historical Center of St.Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments".

    On May 14, V.I. Matvienko, Governor of St.Petersburg, received the delegation at Smolny. At the meeting, V.I. Matvienko highlighted the general issues of cooperation between St.Petersburg and UNESCO, informed about the measures of St.Petersburg Government to preserve World Heritage object, and explained the current problems and prospects.

    UNESCO representatives had the opportunity to offer to the Governor the questions they were interested in.
