A large delegation led by Mayor of Yerevan Hayk Marutyan arrived to represent the capital of Armenia in St. Petersburg. The delegation also included representatives of three factions of the Council of Elders of Yerevan, heads of healthcare and cultural institutions, as well as creative groups.
As the mayor of Yerevan himself said, this is his first foreign visit as the head of the city, and it is no coincidence that it takes place in St. Petersburg. “I am grateful to the Government of St. Petersburg for the efforts to expand cooperation,” Hayk Marutyan emphasized.
For reference: St. Petersburg and Yerevan have been connecting for more than 20 years of partnership.
Within the framework of the Days, a meeting was held between Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov and Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan (more about the meeting: https://www.gov.spb.ru/press/governor/167791). Also, the head of the Armenian capital met with the Director General of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky. In addition, a meeting of representatives of the Council of Elders of Yerevan with a representative of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg was held, and the Chief Children's Surgeon of Yerevan Nikolai Dallakyan met with representatives of St. Petersburg medical institutions.
As part of the cultural part of the Days of Yerevan program, a gala concert of Armenian artists was held on June 20 at the State Academic Chapel of St. Petersburg, in which the Tmbata folk group took part. On June 21, the play “My family is in my suitcase” by the Armenian director Narine Grigoryan was held at the A. Bryantsev Theater of Young Spectators.
On June 20 and 21, members of the delegation of Yerevan visited the Piskarevsky Memorial Cemetery and the Kama Garden on Vasilyevsky Island, where they laid flowers at the Mother Motherland monument and the monument to the Armenian composer Komitas.
As a result of the events, an agreement was reached on holding return days of St. Petersburg in Yerevan in 2020.
