    St. Petersburg launches a literary contest dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory "The First and Last Days of the War"

    On the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg announces a literary competition for Russian compatriots living abroad who have witnessed the war years, as well as their descendants. The best works of the participants will be published in the collection "The First and Last Days of the War" specially dedicated to the anniversary date.

    For participation in the competition, it is necessary to send literary works to the Committee containing memoirs of the two most important days for the whole world - June 22, 1941 and May 9, 1945. It can be both prose and poetic works dedicated to one of these days, telling about personal memories, emotions, life events - of oneself and loved ones that occurred on the day the war began and on Victory Day, about their feelings that overtook to bring about the attack of Germany and its complete and unconditional surrender.

    The publication of this collection is intended to accumulate personal memories of veterans and children of the Great Patriotic War and perpetuate its human dimension in the lines.

    The publication will be traditionally presented at the annual World Thematic Conference of Compatriots Living Abroad, held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

    We call on all foreign Russian compatriots who made the war, who are not indifferent to the issue of passing on the memory of the feat of the Soviet people to future generations, to take part in the competition. Their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren are also invited to participate, who can send the memories of their ancestors, participants and witnesses of the war.

    Requirements:

    - compliance with the stated topic of the competition;

    - Russian language;

    - genre: prose, poetry, essay;

    - wordage: at least 1 printed sheet from one author;

    - in the subject of the e-mail you must specify: "Collection for the 75th anniversary of the Victory";

    - at the beginning of the message text it is necessary to indicate: country of residence, last name and first name (pseudonym) of the author, contact details (phone, email).

    Reception of works is carried out until August 31, 2019 by e-mail: compatriots@kvs.gov.spb.ru.
