On April 19-20, first Deputy Chairman of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg Sergey Markov visited the capital of Uzbekistan – Tashkent, where he took part in a Regional conference of Russian compatriots of the CIS countries and held talks with Deputy Governor of Tashkent Elbek Shukurov.
As a result of the meetings, agreements were reached to conduct a humanitarian and business mission of St. Petersburg to the Republic of Uzbekistan in the second half of this year, as well as to strengthen cooperation in support of Russian compatriots living abroad.
During the conference, S. L. Markov spoke about the educational programs planned by the Government of St. Petersburg for 2019 for Russian compatriots, including historians, literary critics, teachers of Russian language and literature, youth, veterans, representatives of the Russian-language media, etc.
Representatives of the Department for work with compatriots abroad of the Russian foreign Ministry and the Government of Moscow confirmed their readiness to take part in the XII St. Petersburg Forum of youth organizations of Russian compatriots and foreign Russian-language media "Russian abroad", which is scheduled for may 16 – 22 this year.
Some of the delegates participating in the conference (representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Georgia) noted that they already have a positive experience of cooperation with the Committee on external relations of St. Petersburg. Thus, the Chairman of the Union of Russian youth of Georgia Alexander Refugees, who in November 2018 co-organized the "St. Petersburg meeting in Tbilisi", noted the high level of activities. He also said that this project was particularly in demand in today's difficult conditions and expressed his wishes that it would continue in the future.
In total, the conference was attended by delegates from Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and South Ossetia.
Participants of the forum welcomed Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev, Director of Department for work with compatriots abroad the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia Oleg Malginov, the Chairman of the Committee on international relations and friendly relations with foreign countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rustambek Kurbanov and others.
The conference discussed the issues of continuity of generations, preparation for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory over fascism, preservation of spiritual values, cultural identity in terms of integration into the society of the countries of residence of compatriots, youth problems, etc.
During the meeting of the first Deputy Chairman of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg Sergey Markov with Deputy Governor of Tashkent Elbek Shukurov discussed issues of cooperation with organizations of Uzbekistan and the authorities of Tashkent.
In accordance with the agreements reached during the days of Tashkent in St. Petersburg (held on 1 - 2 November 2018), the humanitarian and business mission of St. Petersburg in Tashkent was discussed.
As it was noted, at the moment there is a formation of the delegation of St. Petersburg, which will include representatives of St. Petersburg companies interested in establishing contacts with Uzbekistan, the leadership and teachers of 5 educational institutions of St. Petersburg, signed memorandums of cooperation with Tashkent partners, as well as representatives of other areas in which the interaction between the partner cities.
Much attention in the negotiations was paid to the elaboration of a rich business program, in particular, the organization of negotiations and exchange of business contacts for business representatives interested in supplying the market of St. Petersburg with quality agricultural products. Also, the leadership of the Khokimiyat expressed interest in studying the experience of St. Petersburg on the project "Smart city" and cooperation in the field of youth policy.
In the field of education, in accordance with the interest expressed by the Uzbek side, together with the Department of education of Tashkent, it was decided to organize master classes for teachers of Russian language and literature within the framework of the mission.
To conduct master classes and the subsequent educational process, St. Petersburg will provide educational, methodical and fiction literature on the Russian language and literature.
In addition, it was agreed to send 5 teachers from Uzbekistan to St. Petersburg for a two-week seminar on the Russian language.
Special attention was paid to the issues related to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the great Patriotic war in 2020.
Reference: Days of Tashkent in St. Petersburg took place in November last year. Tashkent Khokimiyat prepared an extensive program of events, including a business forum, round tables, presentations, companies and innovative centers of Tashkent, a concert of folk and pop music, retrospectives of Uzbek feature films, an exhibition of industrial, agricultural products and folk art of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In addition, a number of agreements were signed in the framework of cooperation in the field of secondary special and higher education, industry meetings were held in the field of entrepreneurship and consumer market development, health, education.
