Irene Charalambidou arrived in Saint Petersburg to participate in the Conference on combating international terrorism, organized jointly by the leading international parliamentary organizations.

During the conversation, the prospects for the development of bilateral relations were discussed. According to Andrey Khlutkov, the last few years have been marked by the intensification of official, business and cultural contacts between St. Petersburg and Cyprus, and at the end of 2018, due to the export of products of the shipbuilding industry, trade turnover has increased significantly.

    I. Kharlampiadu, for her part, stressed the importance of the development of bilateral relations between St. Petersburg and Cyprus in the field of culture and tourism, noting that she is a big fan of the Russian ballet art. At the same time, she said that she does not share the position of a number of member States-the OSCE, spreading anti-Russian sentiments and supporting the policy of isolation of Russia from the world community.
