February 27, 2019 in the Committee on improvement of St. Petersburg with the participation of the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg Vyacheslav Kalganov held a working meeting with the Director of the center for international industrial cooperation of UNIDO in the Russian Federation Sergey Korotkov to discuss the participation of representatives of the organization in the exhibition "housing and communal services of Russia", as well as providing them with expert support in the ongoing reform of production and consumption waste management.
During the negotiations, the topic of presentations by representatives of the UNIDO head office in Vienna at the opening of the exhibition was formed, as well as the main areas of cooperation and facilities that are useful for experts to visit in St. Petersburg, including the "plant for mechanized processing of household waste" and "Vodokanal of St. Petersburg", in order to form an objective idea of the current level of waste processing and develop proposals to improve its efficiency.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee for improvement of St. Petersburg Kirill Pashchenko noted that the experience of UNIDO in the field of landfill remediation and, especially, in the reuse of waste, will be very useful for representatives of public authorities of the city, and entrepreneurs working in this area, or intending to enter this promising market.
