    Russian-Vietnamese conference of Valdai club takes place in Ho Chi Minh city»

    February 25-26 in Ho Chi Minh city with the participation of a member of the Public Council of the Committee for external relations and the Interdepartmental working group on cooperation between St. Petersburg and Ho Chi Minh, Professor, head of the Department of history of the Far East of St. Petersburg state University, Director of the Institute Ho Chi Minh at St. Petersburg state University Vladimir Kolotov held the first Russian-Vietnamese conference of the Valdai club in partnership with the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam on "International cooperation in a troubled world". The guest of honor - Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

    Successfully participating in the intellectual dialogue around the world and specifically in Asia, cooperating with partners from China, India, Iran, Malaysia, Singapore, the Republic of Korea and other countries, the Club enters a new platform.

    The choice of Vietnam as the venue of the conference corresponds to the main theme of 2019 – it was decided to make the Eastern direction Central in the work of Valdai. In addition, 2019 is declared the "cross year" of Russia in Vietnam and Vietnam in Russia.

    Relations between Moscow and Hanoi come into a new quality. Russia is returning to Vietnam on a mutually beneficial basis. Vietnam in the military-political and economic sense is one of the key players in Southeast Asia, and the development of dialogue with it is necessary for modern Russia.

    Experts from the two countries will discuss the following issues:

    What are the peculiarities and similarities of the interests of Russia and Vietnam as security players in Southeast Asia? What can be the response of the two countries to the tough us actions on the world stage and the active foreign policy of some countries in the region?

    Multilateral forums and the future of Asia-Pacific: SCO, ASEAN, EAS-the pros of interaction? What are the interim results of the EAEU – Vietnam free trade zone?

    Two-way track. What is cooperation now in the context of sanctions and trade wars? What are the coming years preparing?

    Co-organizer of the Valdai conference-Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam-educational and research center under the patronage of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Vietnam, which has a reputation as one of the most influential think tanks in the Asia-Pacific region.
