    Over 550 books in Russian including educational literature and fiction books were handed over to Serbian schools

    On 13 October 2018 under cultural and educational events series headed “St. Petersburg Meetings in Belgrade” implementing the Russian Federation state policy on ethnic Russians abroad, educational literature and fiction books in Russian were handed over on behalf of the City to Russian-language institutions in Serbia.

    These sets included over 550 books for teachers of Russian as a foreign as well as a native language. The books were handed over to the Russian School named after V.V. Tereshkova, J.J. Zmaj Grammar School and “Clever School” in Novi Sad.

    The objective of this project is to cover the needs of Russian-language institutions and associations of ethnic Russians abroad for educational literature on the Russian language, the Russian and St. Petersburg history and literary works in Russian that is so essential to them these days in order to make up for the shortfall in their book stock.

    2,100 books in total were handed over to the organizations of ethnic Russians in 2018. This donation of books in Russian was organized within visits abroad by the Governor and members of the Government of St. Petersburg, bilateral contacts with coordinating councils of ethnic Russians overseas and also as part of St. Petersburg and foreign culture and educational projects in Malta, Sweden, Iran, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Republic of Srpska), Croatia and Belgium.
