    On 10 September 2018 the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg Evgeny Grigoriev met with the Deputy Communist Party Secretary of Shanghai Yin Hong

    During the conversation, the Parties discusses perspective cooperation projects in the area of commercial and financial collaboration as well as those in the field of tourism, science and culture.    

    E.D. Grigoriev informed the partners of the forthcoming return visit by the delegation of St. Petersburg to Shanghai in early November this year. The delegation of St. Petersburg is planned to participate in the 1st China International Import Expo Trade Fair. The visit is scheduled to coincide with the launching of Information and Business Center of St. Petersburg in Shanghai.  (Reference: the main objectives of IBC in Shanghai are creating a positive image of St. Petersburg in the PRC as an international industrial, scientific and cultural center, as well as facilitating development of international and economic relations between St. Petersburg and the PRC authorities and organizations).

    In response, the Deputy Communist Party Secretary of Shanghai Yin Hong expressed his willingness to support the initiative of St. Petersburg to launch Information and Business Center, and he also emphasized significance of business cooperation between the cities including further implementation of the Baltic Pearl Project in St. Petersburg.

    The Parties agreed to be actively engaged in supporting bilateral interaction and to promote implementation of mutually beneficial projects between St. Petersburg and Shanghai.

     Reference: The Parties have planned exchange of delegations for 2018 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of establishing twin-city relations between St. Petersburg and Shanghai.

    St. Petersburg hosted Days of Shanghai in St. Petersburg on 19-21 August 2018. A Business Forum was held as part of the Events, presentation of Huangpu District (Shanghai) brands was organized, as well as the Old Shanghai Culture Exhibition and a Photo Exhibition at the Russian Museum of Ethnography that marked 40 years of openness and reform in the PRC. The delegation of Shanghai People’s Government to conduct Days of Shanghai in St. Petersburg was led by the Deputy Director-General of the Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office Liu Guangyong.
