    Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations Vyacheslav Kalganov met with the Ambassador of Indonesia

    On 16 November 2018 negotiations were held between Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations Vyacheslav Kalganov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia in the Russian Federation Mohamad Wahid Supriyadi at St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The meeting was conducted as part of M.W. Supriyadi’s visit to participate in the VII St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

    The sides discussed relevant issues and prospects of developing bilateral cooperation between St. Petersburg and regions of Indonesia.

    The Ambassador pointed out that it is expected to sign a Declaration on strategic partnership in the framework of the visit by the RF President V.V. Putin to Indonesia scheduled for 2019 that will enable the countries to raise their relations to a new quality level.  

    Mr. Supriyadi also announced that on 01-04 August 2019 Moscow will host the Russian-Indonesian Business Forum and the IV Indonesian Festival that gains greater popularity with Russian people each year. He highlighted that the Indonesian side is interested in participation of St. Petersburg representatives in the Events and proposed to organize a similar festival in the city of the Neva River.  

    Vyacheslav Kalganov is his turn reaffirmed the intention of St. Petersburg to conclude a Cooperation Agreement with Special Administrative Region Yogyakarta and one of the Indonesian regions, and for that purpose he proposed to hold in St. Petersburg in 2019 a Forum involving business representatives aimed at presenting economic potential and investment opportunities of Indonesia and St. Petersburg.  

    The meeting also included a dialogue between the Amba ssador of Indonesia and the management of St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry in which they outlined features of the future cooperation.
