During the meeting, the Vietnamese side thanked Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg and academic institutions of the city for careful consideration of the documents of 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam held in January 2016. As mentioned, these documents represent tasks and methods of further economic and social development of Vietnam until 2020.
In addition, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan referred to issues of political gender equality, what is a main objective of the Communist Party of Vietnam. She also highlighted the increasing number of women, working in government and party structures of Vietnam, noting high value of Vietnam Women's Union as a part of Vietnamese Fatherland Front.
Regarding bilateral relations between the city of Saint Petersburg and Vietnam, the parties agreed to hold joint conference next year. It is to be held on July 30, 2018 in conjunction with the 95th anniversary of the first visit of Ho Chi Minh (Nguyễn Ái Quốc) to Saint Petersburg. They also agreed that Ho Chi Minh Institute of Saint Petersburg University will co-host the conference.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan invited a delegation of Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg along with representatives of Ho Chi Minh Institute to visit Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in particularly Ho Chi Minh City.
Deputy Head of Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg Mr. Kalganov, for his part, invited Vietnamese businesspersons and officials to visit Saint Petersburg for the development of trade and economic relations and exchange of knowledge.
During the meeting, Mr. Kalganov handed “Orthodox catechism” over to the Head of the National Assembly of Vietnam Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. This book had been translated into Vietnamese and published in Saint Petersburg by orthodox organization “Abbess Taisia Commemoration Society”.
