    Award Ceremony of the Youth Festival «The Culture of the World – for the Cultural Capital»

    On December 8, 2009, an award ceremony for the winners of the youth festival «The Culture of the World – for the Cultural Capital» was held in St.Petersburg, at the Palace for Culture named after M. Gorky (4 Stachek Sq.).

    On December 8, 2009, an award ceremony for the winners of the youth festival «The Culture of the World – for the Cultural Capital» was held in St.Petersburg, at the Palace for Culture named after M. Gorky (4 Stachek Sq.).

    The gold prize-winners of the Festival 2009 were:
    Grammar School № 41 (Primorskiy District of St.Petersburg);
    School № 211 (Central District of St.Petersburg);
    School № 525 (Moskovskiy District of St.Petersburg).

    The ceremony was opened by Alexander Ivanovich Vakhmistrov, Vice-Governor of St.Petersburg and the head of St.Petersburg Administration, who said that as St.Petersburg was awarded UNESCO – Madanjeet Singh Prize for the propagation of ideas of tolerance and nonviolence this year, the Festival «The Culture of the World – for the Cultural Capital» is assigned a special elevated status; conveyed the congratulations to the winners and guests on behalf of St.Petersburg Government; and presented the diplomas and valuable gifts to the gold winners of the Festival. Then, a festive concert was run, featuring children?s art groups and St Petersburg artists: Maria Bessonova, a virtuoso electroviolin player; Anatoliy Tukish, singer, Honored Artist of Russia, and Darina Mishina, equilibrist. Everybody was also surprised by the tricks of the «Theater of Sport», a new trend of St.Petersburg, combining sport and art.

    At the ceremony, the award-winning teams of the Festival «The Culture of the World – for the Cultural Capital» were handed the tours to Riga during the spring vacations, from the group of companies «GAMMA», a partner of the Festival.

    There were awards for such nominations as «The Best Team Leader», «The Discovery of the Year», «The Best Social Project», «The Best Festival Coordinator 2009», «The Best Social Poster», and «Professional Start», «The Best of the Mass-Media». In the last nomination, the victory went to TRC «Petersburg, Channel 5» and the newspaper «Petersburgskie Vedomosti». Representatives of the winning media, along with the winners of the Festival, will go to the press-tour in Riga.

    The gala award ceremony ended with festive fireworks and dancing-song action «Together We Are Stronger», participated by the whole audience.
