    Days of St.Petersburg Completed in Gdansk

    On November 18 through 24, 2010, Days of St.Petersburg were run in the partner city of Gdansk. The official delegation was headed by A.V. Prokhorenko, Member of St.Petersburg Government, Chairman of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations. The delegation included the representatives of sectoral committees, universities, organizations, museums, and city mass-media.

    On November 18 through 24, 2010, Days of St.Petersburg were run in the partner city of Gdansk. The official delegation was headed by A.V. Prokhorenko, Member of St.Petersburg Government, Chairman of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations. The delegation included the representatives of sectoral committees, universities, organizations, museums, and city mass-media.

    At the conference “Saint-Petersburg – Gdansk – Contemporary Cooperation of Partner Cities”, the topical issues were discussed of enhancing the cooperation in economy and innovation, transport and transit policy, research and higher education, culture and tourism.

    The cultural program of the Days included a concert of Mariinsky Theatre soloists, accompanied by instrumental ensemble “Biscuit”; a recital of famous Russian pianist Polina Osetinskaya; and the events to promote Russian language and culture in Gdansk.

    Together with the Museum of World War II, to commemorate the 65th anniversary of victory over fascism, a photo exhibition was prepared, devoted to the Leningrad Siege, which was presented to the public at the University of Gdansk. Representatives of veterans’ organizations and museums of St.Petersburg donated to the museum of the Second World War in Gdansk the materials on the siege of Leningrad.

    Within the Days, the meetings took place with Pavel Adamovicz, Mayor of Gdansk, Mieczyslaw Struk, Marshal of Pomeranian Voivodeship, Roman Zaborowski, Voivode of Pomeranian Voivodeship, and business and cultural circles of Gdansk.

    The delegation visited the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone (www.strefa.gda.pl); an agreement was reached on information exchange and joint projects.
