    The Delegation of Kerkyra Visited St.Petersburg

    On December 4 through 8, 2010, a delegation of Kerkyra (Corfu, Greece), headed by the incumbent mayor Sotiris Mikalef, visited St.Petersburg. The delegation included Ioannis Trepeklis, newly-elected mayor of Kerkyra, taking his powers in January 2011, the municipality representatives, and the members of City Council, President of the Kerkyra Chamber of Commerce, the representatives of business circles. The program of Kerkyra delegation in St.Petersburg was organized with the assistance of the Committee for External Relations.

    On December 4 through 8, 2010, a delegation of Kerkyra (Corfu, Greece), headed by the incumbent mayor Sotiris Mikalef, visited St.Petersburg. The delegation included Ioannis Trepeklis, newly-elected mayor of Kerkyra, taking his powers in January 2011, the municipality representatives, and the members of City Council, President of the Kerkyra Chamber of Commerce, the representatives of business circles. The program of Kerkyra delegation in St.Petersburg was organized with the assistance of the Committee for External Relations.

    The main purpose of the visit was the signing of agreements on friendship and cooperation between the administration of the Central District of St.Petersburg and the Municipality of Kerkyra. The agreement was signed during a meeting on December 6, 2010, by S.V. Shtukova, Head of Administration of the Central District, and Sotiris Mikalef, Mayor of Kerkyra. The meeting was also attended by Antonia Katzourou, Consul General of Greece in St.Petersburg. Participants of the roundtable that was held after the ceremony were the representatives of the administration of the Central District, the Committee for External Relations, St.Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, hotels and institutions in the tourism sector, the University of Culture and Arts. They shared with the Greek partners their views on the development of further cooperation in tourism, development of economic relations, education, youth and social policy, and culture.
