    On 15 November, Smolny hosted a meeting of the Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Policy and Innovations of St. Petersburg, Maxim Meiksin, and the President of the Cuban business group "GESIME", Mr. Gonzalo Ramiro Hernández Mesa

    The meeting was organized in the course of the agreements reached between the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg, Sergey Movchan, and the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Cuba, Mr. Salvador Pardo Cruz, during their meeting in Havana (Republic of Cuba) in the framework of the Havana International Fair FIHAV 2016.

    The meeting was organized in the course of the agreements reached between the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg, Sergey Movchan, and the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Cuba, Mr. Salvador Pardo Cruz, during their meeting in Havana (Republic of Cuba) in the framework of the Havana International Fair FIHAV 2016.

    According to the agreements, the meeting in Smolny was dedicated to working out in detail the possible areas of cooperation. The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the spheres of pharmaceutics, metal industry, electrical engineering, energy, chemical industry, machine tools industry, mechanical engineering and waste management. Special attention was paid to the pharmaceutical and chemical clusters. They discussed the possibility of mutual investments, opening of branches of St. Petersburg companies in the territory of the Republic of Cuba, the possibility of joint entry into the Latin American markets and the exchange of technologies.

     In addition, they discussed issues of technical experts' exchange and learning opportunities for Cuban specialists in St. Petersburg.

     Mr. Gonzalo Ramiro Hernández Mesa expressed interest in the cooperation with Saint Petersburg Center for Import Substitution and Localization and in joint market research.

     The parties agreed to consider implementation of various production projects in the territory of the Republic of Cuba and agreed to continue dialogue in the line of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg.
