    On 20 March 2016, there was a conversation between the first Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Education Y.V. Solyanikov and Education Attache of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Russia José Aurelio Llanes Villanueva

    The meeting was organized with the assistance of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg in connection with the request of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Russia. Mr. Llanes Villanueva praised the level of teaching Spanish in secondary schools of St. Petersburg and the students' level of language.    

    The meeting participants exchanged views regarding the expansion of cooperation with the secondary schools of St. Petersburg with the advanced study of the Spanish language, including the framework of the ongoing "intermutual" Year of the Spanish language in Russia and the Russian language in Spain 2015-2016. Forms of cooperation offered by the education department of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain include:  training programs for teachers of foreign languages, updated methodological base, participation of St. Petersburg schools in the program of bilingual Spanish offices of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain, establishing contacts in the sphere of professional education in view of "intermutual" Year of tourism between Russia and Spain in 2016, organization of the festivals of school theaters in Spanish and cultural events with the participation of Spanish language schools (including the Football World Cup in 2018), the expansion of ties between the schools of St. Petersburg and Spain.  

    During the meeting, the sides agreed to establish a long-term plan of cooperation and the formation of specific activities between the Committee for Education and the Education Department of the Embassy of Spain. The First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Education Y.V. Solyanikov confirmed the support of the Committee for all forms of cooperation, he also invited representatives of Spain to participate in the St. Petersburg International Educational Forum.
