    On 2 - 4 March, St. Petersburg delegation headed by the Vice Governor of St. Petersburg S.N. Movchan visited Plovdiv region (Bulgaria)

    The visit was organized in the framework of the agreements reached during the III International Congress "St. Petersburg and the Slavic world."

    The delegation includes the Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Policy and Innovation of St. Petersburg M.S. Meiksin, the Chairman of the Committee for Entrepreneurship and Consumer Market Development of St. Petersburg E.I. Kachaev, the executive director of "Fund of assistance to crediting of small and medium-sized businesses" A.F. Pitkyanen, director of the St. Petersburg state-financed institution "Quality control Center of Goods (products), works and services" R.A. Shipitsin.

    During the visit, they met with the Governor of the Plovdiv area Zdravko Dimitrov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Bulgaria Y.N. Isakov, the Head of the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Bulgaria I.K. Ilingin, the Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Plovdiv Georgy Gergov, Plovdiv Metropolitan Nicholas.

    In the framework of the business program, they had negotiations with businessmen and business leaders from Plovdiv region, during which the parties agreed to consider the possibility of participating of the Plovdiv region manufacturers in St. Petersburg Christmas Fair, as well as to work on the creation of the Plovdiv Trade House in St. Petersburg.

    On 3 March, the delegation of St. Petersburg as a guest of honor took part in the festive events dedicated to the 138th anniversary of Bulgaria's liberation from the Ottoman yoke, including a visit to the memorial to Russian soldiers killed in the Russian-Turkish war (at the bottom of the monument to Alexander II). The Vice Governor of St. Petersburg S.N. Movchan laid wreaths at the monument to the Soviet Soldier-Liberator "Alyosha" and at Plovdiv Central Cemetery where Russian soldiers are buried. The delegation also attended a worship of Plovdiv Metropolitan Nicholas dedicated to the fallen Russian and Bulgarian soldiers which took place in the Church of the Holy Mother of God.
